About Us

    Jeni J’s Unique Gifts began in November 2003 at the old Mineral Springs Hotel in Alton, Illinois. In June 2005, Mike and Nancy Jo Wilson purchased the present Grafton complex of buildings listed on the National Register for Historic Places. The boutique gift/wine shop opened on July 1, 2005, offering several lines of women’s clothes, Tyler candles, jewelry, STL Cardinals merchandise, fine wine, beer, and snacks. The cottages underwent a complete remodeling including new plumbing, electrical, central air and heat systems, walls and floors, while attempting to preserve the original charm of the historic buildings. The Wharf cottage and Jeni J cottage were available for occupancy on October 1, 2005. The recently acquired Cardinal cottage (September 15, 2008) was also completely remodeled, including satellite TV and opened for occupancy on December 15, 2008.
